TOP 10 wedding venues in cape town

Your 2022 guide to the top 10 dream destination wedding venues in Cape Town! This was very difficult to choose as there are so many beautiful wedding venues scattered throughout this region of South Africa! Each of the following venues have unique characteristics which sets them apart from the rest 👌🏻💯

10. MURATIE WINE ESTATE

Muratie Canvas is a beautiful cape winelands venue located just outside Stellenbosch. This venue offers 360-degree views of the winelands including Table Mountain, Simonsberg mountain and Lions Head. The 20m x20m reception space with wraparound patio and large lawn leads into the vineyards which allows for indoor and outdoor weddings & events and is a perfect choice for events of all sizes

Muratie has a lot of character, the cellar is capable of hosting an intimate wedding between the casks and can come in handy on those unexpected rainy days! The estate also features a natural shaded ceremonial garden area as well as a separate terrace surrounded by oak trees, which is perfect for pre-drinks.

Overall, this venue has a little bit of everything that the Cape Town venues offer with the most magnificent views of Cape Towns magical sunsets!

9. TINTSWALO ATLANTIC

Tintswalo Atlantic is located in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa at the foot of Chapman's Peak, overlooking the picturesque fishing village of Hout Bay.

Nestled between the rocks at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and the slopes of the Cape Mountain's Fynbos Reserve, known the world over for its incredibly rich and diverse flora and fauna. This is the perfect place to combine an intimate and private ceremony in a breathtaking setting while enjoying the ultimate romantic night out!

Two aspects that I really like about this venue is its seclusion and close proximity to the pebbly beach and there isn’t another wedding venue in Cape Town that has these kinds of views making Tintswalo Atlantic a truly unique experience worthy of Cape Town’s top 10!

8. CAVALLI ESTATE

At number 8 we have Cavalli Estate. If you’re an architect, this is probably your dream wedding venue. Some of the key characteristics that make this venue so special is the 360-degree views on the Cape Peninsula and Stellenbosch mountains and the enormous flexibility in terms of where to have your ceremony, pre-drinks, reception, couple shoot etc.

The sunken garden can be transformed into either a pre-drinks/ceremony or reception area. The lawn can do exactly the same. Though this venue does not have on-site accommodation, though there are plenty of beautiful locations in close proximity which would be able to help out. i.e. Majeka house,

My favorite aspect of this venue is that the venue offers so much diversity when it comes to the couple shoot. There are so many areas within the property to shoot, which allows each weddings photographs to tell such a unique story.

7. THE FORUM EMBASSY HILL

The Forum company is well known for their weddings. This venue is located

6. LANZERAC WINE ESTATE

With a history dating back to 1692, the 300-year-old Lanzerac Wine Estate is located at the foot of the idyllic Jonkershoek Valley. It is synonymous with Cape Town's old world charm and rich heritage.

5. LA RESIDENCE

Located between the vineyards and mountains in the beautiful Franschhoek valley, La Residence is basically the hidden oasis in Franschhoek. What I really like about this venue, is that there is really nothing like this in the whole of Cape Town. The features of the venue are so unique and truly breathtaking.

When you first arrive on the property truly feels as if you’ve been transported to another world. The luxurious interiors allows us photographers to create such beautiful imagery. The venues abundant beautiful natural light ensures the most gorgeous wedding photos from the getting ready until the sun sets.

La Residence is able to cater for up to 150 wedding guests, where their 11 bedrooms can accommodate up to 22 guests and their villas can accommodate an additional 20 guests.

4. GRAND AFRICA CAFÉ & BEACH

Grand Africa hosts picturesque beach and seaside weddings at their beach location in the heart of Cape Town. What makes 'Grand Beach & Cafe' unique is that it is one of the only beach cafes in Cape Town and the one venue which is closest to the water.

With over 2,700km of coastline, you might imagine that South Africa would have more beache venues, but that's not the case. As the weather in Cape Town can be extremely erratic, especially with the insane wind that frequently happens, a beach wedding can be very risky but this venue has you covered!

The reception venue (the warehouse) can accommodate up to 300 people and an additional 700 can be outside, making it one of the largest in Cape Town!

Another advantage is that the interior doesn’t need any decoration. Retro looks combined with the long tables, high ceilings, a custom-made cement bar and Parisian chairs do all the work! Though there is so much room for a wedding planner to get creative. I’ve seen this wedding venue transformed into some of the most beautiful visual experiences - especially with the ridiculous sunsets that Cape Town provides.

Tintswalo Atlantic and the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Camps Bay are two other top sites of its kind.

Molenvliet is one of South Africa’s premier destination wedding venues. This unreal boutique winery is tucked in between the enchanted Banhoek valley and is surrounded by the Hottentots Holland & Simonsberg mountains.

Located between Stellenbosch and the town of Pniel. Molenvliet is only 14 minutes drive from Stellenbosch central, 40 minutes from the Cape Town's International Airport & 45 minutes from Cape Town's CBD. Other well-known venues in the area include Nooitgedacht, Zorgvliet, Cavalli Wine and Stud Estate

This farm venue has this unique ability to subtly reveal itself and has everything that you could need to ensure the most beautiful wedding, pre-wedding or even post-wedding celebration. As Molenvliet is the one of the venues that we've worked at the most, rest assured that this venue stays beautiful no matter which time of year.

Molenvliet is one of the most versatile and diverse venues in the Stellenbosch area. There are so many options in terms of reception, pre-drinks, getting ready, ceremony. The luxurious on-site accommodation guarantees amazing photos. The natural lighting, whether it be overcast or sunny, dances with the mountains with the tall oak trees breath life and sparkle into an already noteworthy and magical setting.

The team at Molenvliet have been working hard during the coronavirus lockdown on enhancing an already pristine estate. The interwoven roads that lace and connect the different sections of the venue each reveal an unbelievable view. One aspect that makes this venue unique, is that no matter which angle you are looking from, you as well as your guests are always treated to spectacular views.

In terms of amazing wedding photos. This is about as good as you're going to get in Cape Town. The luxurious interiors, the majestic trees, the beautiful backdrops with gorgeous ambient light all come together perfectly.

There is so much variety in terms of photo opportunities. Wherever you go, you are guaranteed jaw-dropping photos.

The towering enchanted oak trees, which are draped with majestic natural light leaves a wedding photographer spoilt in terms of choices for amazing photo opportunities.

1. QUOIN ROCK MANOR HOUSE

This exclusive private residence is perched 400m above sea level and is thought to be the highest residential property in South Africa’s Western Cape. The Manor House accommodates 14 people and has seven bedrooms. The main house features 5 bedrooms, with two private cottages containing two bedrooms each, accommodating a total of 14. The venue is surrounded by vineyards, mountains and has the most breathtaking view of Cape Town(you can even see Table Mountain in the distance).

The location of the venue in relation to the sun means that you get the absolute best sunset that Cape Town has to offer. Many of the other wedding venues are surrounded by mountains that block out the sun which means that you don’t really get to experience that beautiful golden African sunset.

Taken from a wedding photographer’s perspective, the interiors, exteriors, breathtaking scenery set the foundation for the most magical experience and absolutely mind-blowing opportunities to produce the most insane imagery. My first experience here I was totally blown away. There’s so much beauty to take in and it surely “hits you like a truck”.
